Job Description Description of Position:

The program assistant will oversee, coordinate, and assist in the screening, recruitment, and enrollment of research participants for clinical treatment trials using behavioral and medication-based interventions for patients with obesity and tobacco use. Duties will involve the collection of psychological and other health related research data, data entry and management, and organizational tasks including providing study status updates for the Principal Investigator for these trials.

The program assistant will be responsible for maintaining regulatory and training documents as required by Federal, State, Local, and Institutional protocol regulations and policies. The program assistant will provide administrative/technical assistance with grant proposals, internal/external audits, and publication and dissemination of research findings.

Specific

Job Responsibilities
  • 35% - Coordinate and manage tracking of all research participants, which includes recruitment, screening, scheduling, and enrollment in the trials.
  • 30% - Facilitate participant study visits throughout the trials, which involves collecting psychological and other health related research data, as well as reimbursement of research participants.
  • 25% - Document and manage participant data in electronic research records, including data entry.
  • 5% - Initiate and maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation as required by the Institutional Review Board and Good Clinical Practice Guidelines in connection with research trials.
  • 5% - Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum

Education and Experience:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, biology, or other natural, life, or health care science and one year of research-related work experience is required. Basic working knowledge of computer-based information systems is required. Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies and procedures is required. Excellent time management skills and attention to detail required. Ability to present information effectively in both written and verbal form is required.

Ability to consistently exercise independent judgement and discretion is required. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others is required. Experience on federally-funded research studies and/or pharmaceutical trials is preferred. Experience or familiarity with data management systems, including SPSS, REDCap, and/or OnCore is preferred.

A high school diploma and four years of relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
