About the Department The UChicago Simulation Center strives to measurably improve the quality, safety, and experience of healthcare delivery through the application of cutting-edge simulation methods, systems thinking, human-centered design, and innovative technology. Dedicated to high-quality simulation, the Simulation Center partners across the University of Chicago Health System and Biological Sciences Division to co-design and implement simulation-based programs that promote clinical readiness, skill development, digital innovation, and research.

Job Summary

The Resuscitation & Community Outreach Program Manager is an integral member of the team, overseeing the logistics, operations, and continuous improvement of the resuscitation programs serving the health system. This includes basic life support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). This role also oversees the logistics and planning associated with community-based outreach and related events which the Simulation Center supports and participates in.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as an educator, consultant, and change agent for activities associated with resuscitation under the direction of the Assistant Director, Clinical Simulation & Resuscitation Quality.
  • Maintains a robust network of instructors across the health system.
  • Monitors performance to ensure high quality training occurs across all programs.
  • Ensures equipment is available, maintained, and tracked for optimal programming.
  • Travels to offsite locations to provide instruction, transport equipment, and serve as a simulation technical expert as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with American Heart Association’s Training Institute best practices.
  • Participates in and leads community outreach events.
  • Drives the simulation ambulance to community-based events and executes maintenance protocols and procedures.
  • Servs as an instructor for one or more of the following resuscitation programs: BLS, ACLS, PALS.
  • Responsible for daily set-up, configuration, and clean-up of equipment, classrooms, and all materials necessary for quality resuscitation training.
  • Responsible for scheduling instructors, verifying enrollment of learners, and communicating with stakeholders across all resuscitation programs in an effective and professional manner.
  • Conducts timely administrative duties such as answering emails, typing reports, entering basic data, and photocopying.
  • Actively participates in technical training to stay up to date with simulation technologies and resuscitation best practices.
  • Supports adult learning principles and the learning experience for all center users.
  • Serves as an active participant (i.e. imbedded actor) in simulation activities as needed.
  • Cultivates and maintains a culture of customer service and partnership across the health system, promoting clear communication, transparency, and follow up related to the Resuscitation core.
  • Converses with faculty members, clinical instructors, and learners concerning educational activities on a daily basis.
  • Supports quality data collection, procedures for equipment inventory, equipment usage, reservation tracking, preventative maintenance and repair logs, warranty management, productivity tracking, and survey data collection.
  • Brings a growth-mindset to all duties, actively learning new technologies and skills.
  • Supports the mission, vision, and goals of the UChicago Simulation Center.
  • Assists with simulation related research efforts as appropriate.
  • Sets and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria.
  • Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.
  • Has moderate/high levels of interactions with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
  • Work Experience:

    Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

  • Preferred Qualifications

    Experience:

    Two years of direct patient care experience as an EMT, paramedic, nurse, or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in a related environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience coordinating complex programs strongly preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • AHA Instructor status. Training for PALS and ACLS training can be provided upon hire. CHSOS certification to be achieved in the first 2.5 years of employment.
Preferred Competencies
