MSL We are excited to announce that currently we are looking for Medical Science Liaison with experience in viral liver disease, hepatology, Infectious Disease/HIV to initiate scientific dialogue within the therapeutic area centers through scientific discussions with clinical physicians, staff and other stakeholders, on behalf of our client. You will provide peer-to-peer educational dialogue in support of the clinical trial teams.

In addition, you will ensure compliant and high-quality clinical scientific communication. You will be asked to contribute clinical insight to inform decision making on various aligned teams.

Role focus:
Pre-launch medical readiness through HDV territory uncovering, ecosystem mapping, scientific relationship building, and actionable insight generation. ECLIPSE support remains an important but secondary responsibility based on the current territory situation.

Position summary:

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific role responsible for advancing pre-launch medical readiness for hepatitis delta virus (HDV) across the US Central territory.

The MSL will identify and map key centres involved in HDV diagnosis, referral, and treatment; build and advance credible peer-to-peer scientific relationships with healthcare professionals (HCPs), investigators, and key opinion leaders (KOLs); and develop a detailed, evidence-based understanding of patient and referral pathways within the territory.

The primary objective of the role is to expand Vir Bio’s medical footprint and support future launch readiness through systematic territory uncovering, compliant scientific engagement, relationship development, and the collection and timely sharing of high-quality, actionable field insights. The role will engage beyond clinical trial sites to identify the clinicians, centres, networks, and local dynamics that shape HDV awareness, screening, diagnosis, referral, and treatment readiness.

ECLIPSE clinical trial support will remain within scope, with a focus on maintaining the scientific relationship with Rush University Medical Center, supporting the Principal Investigator and site stakeholders as appropriate, and contributing to participant retention and study execution within compliant MSL boundaries. This will be a secondary objective rather than the primary focus of the role.

Territory and Travel: US Central, specifically:
Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Texas, and Wisconsin. The successful candidate may be based anywhere within the territory, provided they live within close proximity to a major airport. Extensive travel throughout the territory is expected to support in-person scientific engagement, relationship development, congress participation, and territory mapping.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-launch readiness and HDV ecosystem development Identify, map, and engage key stakeholders involved in HDV diagnosis, referral, and treatment within the assigned territory. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the local healthcare environment, patient pathways, referral networks, and treatment landscape. Build and maintain scientific relationships with healthcare professionals, investigators, and key opinion leaders. Support the development and execution of territory plans aligned with Medical Affairs priorities.

    Contribute to the expansion of Vir Bio’s medical footprint and future treatment readiness through scientific engagement and stakeholder development.
  • Scientific engagement and relationship management Conduct compliant, high-quality scientific exchange with healthcare professionals and other relevant stakeholders. Communicate scientific and medical information in a fair-balanced manner, tailored to stakeholder needs. Establish and maintain trusted scientific relationships with key external experts and investigators. Support scientific education initiatives and respond appropriately to unsolicited medical requests.
