HSC H Shift:1 Start Time:6:00 am End Time:6:30 pm Posted Salary: $19.55 Float: True Rotate: True On Call: False Travel: False Weekend/Holiday: True Job Description: Assists the professional nurse in creating a milieu therapeutic for hospitalized patients with behavioral/emotional disturbance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Graduate from an approved school with an Associate Degree in Mental Health Technology or two years of college in Psychology or related field.
  • BLS required.
  • Demonstrates proficient interviewing techniques and empathic interactions appropriate to the emotional wellbeing of the patient.
  • Ability to plan and organize work and to work under close supervision. Willingness to accept responsibility for patients and their care when performing designated functions of this position.
  • May be required to rotate shifts and units.
  • Physical requirements:
    • a. visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable;
    • b. ability to hear (with or without aides);
    • c. ability to orally communicate;
    • d. good manual dexterity;
    • e. ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 50 pounds occasionally;
    • f. ability to stand, walk frequently;
    • g. ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel frequently;
    • h. ability to perform CPR; and
    • i. must be able to physically hold and restrain patients.
