Medical Records Specialist – 100% Onsite Carol Milgard Breast Center | Tacoma, WA

Schedule:

Full-time, 40 hours per week | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM

Location:

Tacoma, WA – This position is 100% onsite and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
Pay: $19.22–$25.19 per hour, based on relevant experience, skills and abilities

As a Medical Records Specialist, you'll play an important role in that experience. Working onsite at our Tacoma breast center, you'll ensure patients, providers and clinical teams have timely and accurate access to the medical records and imaging they need.

What You'll Do
  • Process incoming and outgoing medical records and imaging requests accurately and efficiently.
  • Retrieve patient records, prior imaging and reports for patients, providers and clinical teams.
  • Assist patients and provider offices with Release of Information requests.
  • Manage a high-volume phone queue while providing professional and compassionate service.
  • Review records for completeness and resolve missing or inconsistent information.
  • Use PACS, EMR and other electronic systems to retrieve, track and transfer records and imaging.
  • Coordinate with physicians, technologists and other clinical staff regarding record availability.
  • Process attorney and other specialized records requests in coordination with appropriate teams.
  • Protect patient privacy and maintain HIPAA compliance.
  • Support the department with additional administrative and coordination needs.
What We're Looking For

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite at Carol Milgard Breast Center in Tacoma, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn multiple systems.
  • Professional communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential patient information.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree.
  • Previous medical records, medical office or healthcare administrative experience.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Experience with PACS, EMR or other healthcare information systems.
  • General knowledge of radiology or breast imaging.
