Salary Range: $19.00 - $28.50 Hourly
The primary purpose of this position is to perform or oversee resident performance of personal care or assist residents to perform personal care, in accordance with Facility policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities Policies and Procedures- Maintain confidentiality of residents, resident family members, coworkers, and Immanuel Living
- Understand and support the philosophy, policies, and standards of Immanuel Living and the Nursing Services Department
- Maintain quality of resident care, including compliance with Facility and Nursing Services Department policies and procedures, and State and Federal guidelines
- Follow facility and department policies and procedures
- Accurately and safely perform resident care in accordance with residents’ care plan, resident Assignment Sheet and worksheets, and nurses’ instructions
- Answer call lights in a timely manner
- Pick up and maintain resident rooms in a neat and orderly condition
- Assist residents to and from meals, meetings, and activities, as needed
- Straighten and maintain department rooms and equipment storage areas in a neat and orderly condition
- Accurately record resident care on Resident Assignment Sheet
- Inform nurses of improvement or decline in resident condition on a timely basis
- At the end of assigned shift, give report to the incoming shift
- Charge out billable supplies
- Answer Unit telephone when nurse is unavailable
- Communicate with supervisor and participate in training and/or meetings that help facilitate departmental communication process
- Communicate with others in a considerate manner
- Straighten and maintain Nourishment Room, Soiled Linen Room, bathing areas, Clean Linen Room, and Unit equipment storage areas in neat and orderly condition
- Function effectively as a team member; assist other team members with concern and direct them to the appropriate resource
- Maintain good working relationships among staff
- Maintain understanding, patience, and tact in dealing with residents, resident families, and coworkers
- Ensure maintenance of a safe living and working environment for residents and staff
- Maintain regular work attendance and follow established work schedule. Hours and days of the week must be flexible to meet scheduling requirements.
- Read, write, and speak basic English sentences
- Read, write, and understand CNA medical terminology
- Read and comprehend basic instructions and present information to others
- Read, interpret, and write routine reports and correspondence
- Basic counting skills
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide simple numbers
- Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Basic to intermediate computer skills
- Operate fax machine to send or receive documents
- Operate copier to copy and collate documents
- Operate multi-line phone to place and receive or transfer calls
Operate department lifts in accordance with training, facility policy, and applicable law. Employees under age 18 may assist with power-driven patient/resident lifting devices only within the limitations permitted by applicable child labor requirements.
Other Required Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities- Effectively work and communicate with a wide range of individuals from all socio-economic groups, including senior adult residents and people with special needs, as well as family members
- Read, interpret, and implement documents, such as governmental regulations, rules, and procedure manuals
- Work with minimal supervision and effectively manage workflow
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from residents and/or employees
- Understand and follow both written and verbal instructions
- Current Montana Certified Nurses Assistant certification
- Completed Montana CNA Skills Checklist
- Completion of six month and annual CNA Skills Evaluation
- Completion of 24 continuing education credits in 2-year period of certification
