EMT Temporary

Answers in Genesis EMTs will render aid to employees, staff and guests at the level in which they are certified:
Basic Life Support (BLS).

They promptly respond to requests for medical treatment, both emergency and non-emergency, and provide appropriate medical evaluation and care to the limit of their certification and training. They professionally interact with other medical personnel and provide accurate written and verbal reports.

• Establish medical protocols and standing orders for communications and patient care personnel.
• Serve as a liaison with the local medical community.
• Interact with regional, state, and local EMS authorities on matters relating to EMS standards, needs, and resource optimization.
• Maintain continuing education appropriate for EMTs.
• Render patient care utilizing the standard of care approved by the Medical Director and the Kentucky Board of EMS.
• Provide support to paramedics rendering advanced life support type treatment if required.
• Set up equipment and assist in ALS procedures when required (e.g., heart monitor, IVs, medications).
• Ensure medical bags are fully stocked at the beginning of shift, re‑stock them as needed, and inspect equipment to ensure proper function.
• Submit orders to Public Safety Administration for restocking.
• Log and maintain a database of locations for all AEDs.
• Maintain all medical related equipment.
• Perform monthly tests on all emergency lights and emergency exit signs.
• Conduct monthly checks on all fire extinguishers.
• Complete required paperwork with full narrative documenting dispatch details, patient’s condition on scene, all care and treatments provided, and supplies used.
• Ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and timely.
• Participate in housekeeping duties on a consistent basis.
• Accept additional duties and assignments as needed to meet the needs of the customer.
• Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Current certification as an EMT Basic in Kentucky or national certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• CPR certification.
• Clean criminal background check and driving record.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Fit the culture of Answers in Genesis and willing to lead with servant‑leadership qualities.
• Computer literate or willingness to learn computer skills, with emphasis on Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint or new systems as required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal communication skills.
• Administrative and organizational skills.

• Lift and/or move up to 300 pounds or more with assistance from partners.
• Grip up to 50 pounds.
• Push/pull stretchers weighing up to 125 pounds.
• Repetitively squat.
• Crawl into confined spaces.
• Climb stairs carrying 50 pounds of equipment.
• Reach with hands and arms.
• Kneel.
• Talk, see, hear.
• Apply critical thinking and multi‑tasking.
• Utilize computer equipment and obtain knowledge of EMS and AiG system programs.
