Position Purpose

Key Responsibilities

Support efficient operations of the nursing unit. Utilize skills in reception, transcription, maintaining medical records and clerical duties. Other duties as assigned.

Rhythm Strip Interpretation

The Monitor Tech (MT) willmaintainabaselinelevelofECGmonitoringforallorderedpatients,detectandalert nursing staff to significant dysrhythmias, and perform continuous monitoring and intermittent recording on patients in crisis.

Respondpromptlytomonitoralarmsandtakesappropriate action.

Record,interpret,postandreportrhythmsonallmonitoredpatientsatthescheduledtimesandas needed.

Recognizedangerousdysrhythmiasandpromptlynotifytheappropriatenursecaringforthepatientand the ICU/PCU Clinical Lead assigned to the patient.

Recognizesignificantrhythmchanges,recordthem,andnotifytheICU/PCUClinical

Leadassignedtothe patient.

Patient Management and Disposition

GivereporttooncomingMT,reflectingthelast
12hoursofpatientactivity.

Runrhythmstrips,identifyrhythm,anddelivertoappropriateICU/PCUClinical

Leadassignedtothe patient.

TheMTwillinitialeach strip.

TheMTwillmaintainaflowsheetdocumentingeachpatient’srhythmandectopyoverthecourseoftheday. Documentation to be every eight hours.

AllcontinuingartifactsshouldbeinvestigatedbytheMTandadjustmentsmadeasneeded.

TheMTwillperformroutineandtroubleshootingactivitiesrelatedtoequipmentmaintenance,equipment checks, and report any malfunctions to the ICU/PCU designated Charge Nurse.

Completethevalidationchecklistassuringallmonitorsareallocatedandlabeled accurately.
