This examination is being given to fill 6 vacancies in the Correctional Health Services department and to establish an eligible list to fill future vacancies. Pre-Employment Drug Screening and Background :
Potential new hires into this classification are required to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and a background investigation as a condition of employment. Final appointment cannot be made unless the eligible has passed the drug screen and successfully completed the background process. The County pays for the initial drug screen.
Please note that this position requires successful completion of a law enforcement background investigation.

This is the entry level in the professional Mental Health Clinician series. Assignments require advanced counseling and casework skills and techniques designed to restore or improve individual physical, mental or emotional functioning. This class is distinguished from Mental Health Clinician II in that the latter is the fully licensed, journey level practitioner. Typical, upon obtaining licensure, incumbents in this class advance to Mental Health Clinician II.
Special Requirement:
Offers of employment are contingent
upon passing a background
investigation and drug screen.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited school or
university with a master’s or doctorate degree in
social work, counseling, psychology or other course
of study acceptable to the State of California Board
of Behavioral Sciences towards licensure as a
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and
Family Therapist (MFT), or Licensed Professional
Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
License:
Possession of a valid California driver’s
license if required by the nature of the assignment.
Special Requirements :
Must submit proof of current
registration within one year of employment and maintain active registration with the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), or Professional Clinical Counselor Intern (PCCI). Incumbents must obtain California licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) within five (5) years of appointment.
Failure to meet these requirements may result in disciplinary action, up to and including, dismissal from employment.
