Job Description Summary:The Navigation Tech is responsible for administering image-guided surgery navigation systems and instrumentation. The primary focus is to support and assist surgeons to correlate intraoperative anatomy with preoperative CT and MRI images. The Navigation Tech will assist surgeons in spine, cranial, orthopedic, and ENT procedures. The Navigation Technologist will obtain and download the imaging to be readily available for the surgeon during surgical procedures.
The Navigation Technologist will review imaging prior to cases to ensure usable images. During cases, they are responsible for creating and customizing the Stealth image guidance software by creating 3-dimensional maps between points on the patient and corresponding points on patient images, allowing surgeons to track position of the patient and surgical instruments in real time i.e. tumor location, cyst polyps, or guide wires/screws.
In addition, the Navigation Tech will serve as support for the clinical service line and daily operational workflow. These responsibilities are, but not limited to, collaborating with the Sterile Processing department to ensure correct instrumentation for procedures, assisting the Radiology team with O-arm rotations, basic optical instrument troubleshooting on Stealth machines, and educating scrub personnel on assembly and disassembly for Nav Lock instruments.
Responsibilities And Duties:Responsible for managing and administering image guided surgery navigation systems/instrumentation to support and assist surgeons visually correlate intraoperative anatomy with perioperative CT and MRI scans.Participates in the coordination with physician offices and surgery leadership for the prior day planning for upcoming cases. This includes checking the availability of equipment consoles, instrumentation, and any patient related information or scans required for scheduled cases. Any deficiencies should be identified and corrected to minimize any potential delays in the OR.Assist the OR staff with the setup and clinical operation of navigation technology and any other related navigation components.Accesses patient information and order sets for image needs in the patients’ electronic medical record. Reviews pre-operative image needs and communicates necessary information to the interdisciplinary team.Effectively demonstrates the qualities of Ohio Health’s values and acts as an important member of the team with integrity, leadership, and excellence in his/her daily work.Maintains professional relationships with co-workers and other hospital employees.Must be able to effectively and efficiently work as a team member and utilize his/her time wisely.May perform other departmental functions within the scope of practice, as assigned.

Technical and Departmental SupportMonitor system performance of surgical devices in use and will identify and troubleshoot any issues that arise quickly in the OR on an as needed basis.
