Role Summary

The Medical Director serves as a scientific owner across clinicians and patient education programs. In collaboration with Medical Strategy, this role drives scientific integrity, learning effectiveness, and cross-functional alignment across the full educational grant lifecycle from concept and needs assessment development, through program implementation, to reporting, and scientific recognition. The Medical Director is an individual contributor who partners closely with Medical Strategy, Business Development, Program Management, Outcomes, Marketing, and Key Opinion Leaders and other external partners to deliver evidence-based education that meets learner needs and supporter expectations and is regulatory compliant.

Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development Support
  • Drives the scientific foundation of new educational programs from idea through grant submission and provides ongoing scientific support to Business Development (BD).
  • Lead pre-concept and concept development for new educational programs, translating identified practice gaps into educationally sound, fundable proposals.
  • Develop needs assessments for General Medicine topics, ensuring the gap analysis, learning objectives, and outcomes plan are scientifically rigorous and aligned with current evidence and guidelines.
  • Lead needs assessment development for new therapeutic areas adjacent to General Medicin e, building expertise as new portfolios are pursued.
  • Collaborate with external medical writers on needs assessments, providing scientific direction, reviewing drafts, and ensuring final content meets internal standards.
  • Provide grant development review and support throughout the submission process, ensuring scientific accuracy and alignment with BD priorities.
  • Advise the BD team on new opportunities based on emerging science, guideline changes, and unmet educational needs; co-develop concepts and scientific narratives for supporter meetings.
  • Conduct pre- and post-conference research, monitor key congresses, and translate evolving science into pipeline opportunities and BD positioning.
2. Program Implementation
  • Owns the scientific quality of funded programs from kick-off through milestone delivery.
  • Lead scientific development and review of slide decks across milestones, ensuring accuracy, flow, fair balance, and alignment with stated learning objectives and regulations. Ensure content is grounded in performance gaps and tied to measurable practice change.
  • Lead scientific development and review of patient education content, partnering with writers, patients and faculty to ensure clinical accuracy and patient-friendly, health-literate language.
  • Collaborate with external writers, providing scientific direction and ensuring deliverables meet internal scientific standards.
  • Lead kick-off calls with Program Management, faculty, and writers to communicate program scope, scientific goals, tone, and timeline expectations.
  • Collaborate with presenting faculty to ensure content accuracy, maintain faculty relationships, and accommodate their availability while protecting program timelines.
  • Develop pre-activity, post-activity, and follow-up survey instruments in partnership with the Outcomes team, ensuring questions measure intended learning and behavior outcomes.
  • Provide weekly status updates, surfacing wins, blockers, and decisions needed and a dhere to all scheduled timelines; proactively flag scientific or timeline risks to Program Management.
3. Reporting, Reconciliation and Scientific Recognition
  • Closes out funded programs with rigor and translates results into scientific output that elevates the company’s educational reputation.
  • Collaborate with the Outcomes team to interpret data from educational programs, identify key scientific takeaways, define next educational steps, and enhance outcomes methodology.
