Position Summary:

As an integral IHI team member, the Project Directoris responsible forthe successful planning and execution of a portfolio of projects. The Project Director leads the project team, faculty, Improvement Advisors, andSr. Sponsorto deliver the most effective and efficient programs, projects,and services to improve health and health care outcomes worldwide.

IHI is building a pipeline of experienced US-Based Project Directors for future opportunities. We seek leaders withexpertisein driving improvement and transformation across health care systems and communities.

Position Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Define and prioritize projectobjectivesfor projects, ensuring alignment with client needs and organizational goals.
  • Monitor project progress, deliverables, and risks, escalating major concerns to the SPD as needed.
  • Act as the primary liaison with project stakeholders,maintaining clear and consistent communication.
  • Collaborate with the PMO toallocateresources effectively, ensuring efficient project execution.
  • Identify and document potential risks, recommending mitigation strategies to the SPD.
  • Evaluate project performance against predefined metrics, ensuringtimelyand high-quality deliverables.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational quality standards and client expectations for assigned projects.
  • Implement approved change requests, ensuring alignment with project scope and goals.
  • Support the transition of project deliverables to operational teams, documenting lessons learned for process improvements.
Content Development
  • Lead the creation of high-quality deliverables, such as reports, presentations, frameworks, case studies, and client-ready materials.
  • Develop or customize template toolkits, guides, and resources to support client implementation of consulting recommendations.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to project team members, fostering collaboration within the context of assigned projects.
Position

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of public health and/or health care domains relevant to IHI's mission.
  • Understanding ofproject management frameworks, resource planning, risk management, and quality assurance.
  • Awareness of QI methodologies and how theyapply to consulting or project execution.
  • Expertise in creating concise, compliant, and audience-specific reports, stakeholder updates, and project summaries for health care systems, government agencies, and other audiences.
  • Understanding the basics of RFPs and grant proposals, including their structure andkey successfactors.
  • Ability to guide and inspire project teams without formal authority, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Ability to produce high-quality project deliverables, including frameworks, toolkits, and case studies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust andmaintainlong-term client relationships.
  • Engaging presentation and discussion facilitation skills for diverse stakeholders, using storytelling, data visualization, and interactive techniques to drive decision-making and build consensus.
  • Ability to align projectobjectivesand outcomes with IHI and the customer's strategic goals.

Position

Qualifications:

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of leading project teams thathasincluded meeting deadlines within budgetary constraints and reporting outprogress and updates to stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Quality Improvement (QI) methodologies or frameworks
