Position Overview

The Assistant Director of Advanced Practice - Recruitment and Retention is responsible for leading efforts to attract, support, and retain a highly skilled and diverse APP workforce. A key focus of this position is aligning candidates’ skills, experiences, and career aspirations with organizational needs and opportunities, fostering optimal role placement and long-term success. This role provides strategic oversight of onboarding and retention processes to ensure they are effective, efficient, and supportive while promoting professional growth, engagement, and a culture of inclusion throughout an APP’s career.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment Lead recruitment strategies to attract a diverse and highly qualified APP workforce, including career fair participation, academic partnerships, and targeted marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with APP managers and service-line leaders to identify talent gaps and workforce trends, developing proactive strategies to address them.
  • Monitor recruitment metrics and refine approaches to optimize outcomes.
  • Retention Develop and implement innovative strategies to enhance APP retention and job satisfaction.
  • Identify and address workforce trends and challenges proactively.
  • Monitor retention metrics and refine approaches to improve APP engagement and career longevity.
  • Onboarding & Orientation Provide strategic oversight of onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a seamless integration for new hires.
  • Support career advancement initiatives.
  • Advocacy & Leadership Act as an ambassador for the APP team, advocating for their needs and representing them in senior leadership discussions.
  • Promote alignment with ICARE values and foster a supportive, inclusive work environment.
  • Adapt to evolving priorities and institutional needs, taking on new responsibilities to advance the mission of the department and organization.
  • Clinical Practice Maintain a clinical practice as an NP or PA in a defined specialty (50% effort).
Qualifications
  • Requirements for Nurse Practitioner Require a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.
  • Requirements for Physician Assistant Required completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn.
