The main purpose of this position is to implement and provide direct services in the form of group or individual therapy to persons with severe and persistent mental illness under the direct supervision of an Occupational Therapist. This position will function as a member of the treatment team and make recommendations to the supervising Occupational Therapist regarding re-evaluations of patients’ level of functioning.
This position provides professional guidance for Occupational Therapy fieldwork students (interns).
This position supports the mission of the organization through active participation in clinical efforts to provide treatment in a recovery-oriented environment. The foundation of a recovery-oriented environment is respect and a commitment to safety in the least restrictive manner possible.
- Education:
Determined by the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice under the licensing requirements for Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistants. - Experience:
Two years of experience as a Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant. - Note:
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Therapy Assistant classifications or Therapy Assistant specialty codes in the Occupational Therapy field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
- Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant from the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice, Spring Grove Hospital Center, 55 Wade Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21228.
- Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.
- Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
Applicants who meet the minimum (and selective) qualifications will be included in further evaluation. The evaluation may be a rating of your application based on your education, training and experience as they relate to the requirements of the position. Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
