Summary of Physical Therapist Assistant position

The PTA is responsible for promoting, facilitating, and maintaining health, well-being, and participation in life.

This individual is responsible for all aspects of physical therapy assistant service delivery provided under a physician approved plan of care and accountable for the safety and effectiveness of the physical therapy assistant service delivery process.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy programs to restore, reinforce, and enhance patient performance.

  • Identify the need for and make referrals to other healthcare disciplines as necessary to address the comprehensive needs of the patient.

  • Instruct, educate, and train patients and caregivers in skills and functions essential for promoting patient independence, improving quality of life, and diminishing or correcting pathology.

  • Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants, provisional licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.

  • Develop personalized care plans using a variety of treatment techniques.

  • Provide quality, personalized, and evidence-based care using proven interventions.

  • Promote clients’ healthy lifestyles by improving their strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination.

  • Continuously evaluate patient progress, monitor outcomes, and communicate updates effectively with the interdisciplinary team

Qualifications Requirements of Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA):
  • Associate's degree from a CAPTE-accredited program Active state Physical Therapy license in good standing

  • Current CPR

  • At least one (1) year experience working in a Skilled Nursing Facility preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and priorities at once

  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of the position

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care
