New Castle Nursing & Rehab is seeking a compassionate and Creative Activity Director to lead our activities program and help create meaningful, enjoyable experiences for our residents. We are looking for someone who understands that activities are a part of our residents' quality of life, independence, socialization, and overall well-being.
Responsibilities- Plan, coordinate, and lead a variety of daily activities that meet the physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of our residents.
- Get to know residents individually and develop activities based on their interests, hobbies, abilities, and personal histories.
- Create a monthly activity calendar that includes a variety of group and individual activities.
- Organize special events, parties, entertainment, outings, and celebrations for residents and families.
- Encourage resident participation while respecting individual choices and preferences.
- Build positive relationships with residents, families, staff, volunteers, and community members.
- Incorporate meaningful one-on-one visits and activities for residents who may not participate in group programs.
- Work closely with nursing and other departments to ensure activities are appropriate for each resident's needs.
- Bring creativity and new ideas to the facility while creating an environment where residents feel valued, included, and at home.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience working with older adults, preferably in a long-term care or healthcare setting, is preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Creative, dependable, and able to work independently.
- Comfortable working with residents with a variety of physical and cognitive abilities.
- Most importantly, a genuine passion for working with seniors and making a difference in their everyday lives.
