*** Responsibilities:
** Oversees pharmacy supply chain operations for University of Rochester Medicine system, including implementation and development of internal and external requisitioning methods, related policy and SOP oversight, enterprise medication distribution, pharmaceutical invoice oversight, wholesaler and manufacturer relations. Includes oversight for pharmacy purchasing practices in excess of $900 million annually across University of Rochester Medicine Pharmacy Enterprise. Establishes strategic goals related to an efficient and modern pharmaceutical supply chain model, including procurement, distribution, and inventory management.
Directs purchasing and distribution practices in a manner consistent with University of Rochester 340b policies and procedures. Develops and executes system-level strategy for drug shortage mitigation and management. Provides leadership and oversight for pharmacy procurement operations across all pharmacy business units, directing pharmacy buyers, analysts, and drug shortage specialty technicians responsible for medication sourcing, purchasing, invoice management, supplier reconciliation, and supply chain optimization.
** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
** Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Operations and Logistics
* Develops, implements, and maintains a centralized pharmaceutical procurement, inventory management, and distribution strategy across all UR Medicine pharmacy operations to ensure cost-effective, reliable, and compliant medication supply.
* Directs pharmacy procurement operations, leading buyers responsible for medication purchasing and inventory management across acute care, infusion, retail, specialty, and Consolidated Services Center pharmacy operations.
* Partners with pharmacy, clinical, operational, finance, and supply chain leaders to implement strategic formulary, procurement, operational, and policy initiatives that support organizational goals.
* Leverages analytics, informatics, and market intelligence to optimize pharmaceutical sourcing, product selection, inventory levels, and contracting strategies while minimizing costs and ensuring continuity of supply.
* Establishes and oversees system-wide medication requisitioning and inventory management standards for clinical departments, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational consistency, and corrective action when needed.
* Develops and maintains strategic relationships with manufacturers, wholesalers, group purchasing organizations (GPOs), and external vendors to improve pricing, supply continuity, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
* Leads initiatives to mitigate drug shortages by developing proactive sourcing strategies, coordinating allocation management, and collaborating with clinical and operational leaders to minimize disruptions to patient care.
* Identifies and implements continuous improvement opportunities within pharmacy supply chain operations through process redesign, standardization, automation, and performance measurement.
