Cardiovascular Perfusion Program Director

The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing is committed to attracting diverse world-class faculty to advance the School's mission to educate visionary nurse leaders and scholars, generate and apply knowledge, and transform nursing, health, and systems of health care within the local and global community. We are seeking applications for a Program Director to lead our Cardiovascular Perfusion Program. We invite applications from individuals with expertise in perfusion science, higher education teaching experience, and a strong record of program administration and leadership.

As an integral part of the Robert W. Woodruff Health Sciences Center of Emory University, the School of Nursing is a nationally ranked leader in nursing and health sciences education and practice. The School offers educational programs across the spectrum of nursing and health professions, including its Cardiovascular Perfusion Program. We provide a creative and energetic environment where program leadership can build a career with national impact, engaging in collaborative relationships with Emory's strong interdisciplinary initiatives in Cardiovascular Health, Data Science, and Omics and Genetics/Genomics, as well as with Emory Healthcare's cardiac surgery and perfusion services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Program Director is responsible for academic program development and oversight of all aspects of the Cardiovascular Perfusion Program. The Program Director must be responsible for the organization, administration, periodic review, continued development, and general effectiveness of the program. This individual must demonstrate proficiency in the use of instructional strategies and techniques and expertise in perfusion science based on best practices and evidence and support the mission and values of the School of Nursing and Emory University.

Because of the program director’s key oversight of the Cardiovascular Perfusion Program, the position is based in Atlanta, Georgia and the candidate must reside in the Atlanta, Georgia vicinity before their start date.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Master's degree from an accredited university/college
  • Graduation from an accredited perfusion program

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years higher education teaching experience required in an accredited educational perfusion program
  • Certified by the American Board of Clinical Perfusion (ABCP) with 5 years of clinical experience
  • Licensed perfusionist in the State of Georgia or eligible for licensure such that it can be obtained within 3 months of employment
  • Proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, program planning and development

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD, EdD, or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited university/college

Responsibilities include:

Program Administration

Ensure the program is compliant with the AC-PE Standards for Perfusion Education

  • Ensure the AC-PE Consensus Curriculum is incorporated into the Emory perfusion curriculum
  • Monitor and retain data required for annual accreditation reports
  • Provide leadership in management of the program through curriculum development, expert teaching and implementation of learning innovations that utilize technology, systematic evaluation and program planning
