, a post-acute rehabilitation center in West Columbia, SC, is seeking a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). The qualified applicant will be an organized self-starter with excellent time management skills and a positive attitude.
Position Highlights:
- Ensure patient files are properly maintained and can be retrieved upon request or for scheduled appointments.
- Perform clerical tasks necessary for the proper maintenance of patient medical records.
- Reconcile all discharged records and follow up on missing documentation.
- Prepare, scan, verify, and index all patient records within 24 to 48 hours of discharge.
- Ensure physicians properly sign, date, and complete patient records before they are finalized.
- Arrange records from the skilled nursing facility in proper order, prepare them for storage, log them into the system, and place them in storage containers.
- Scan and photocopy records, and receive and send information via fax.
- Conduct periodic medical record audits and chart reviews.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to questions regarding patient medical records.
