Competencies:

Must possess a strong commitment to the Mobile Crisis Team mission and philosophy.

Must be able to work well with clients with multiple needs including mental health, substance use, and their needs for ongoing services, resources, and supports. This includes linkage and referral to community resources as determined by a SDOH assessment.

Must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to coordinate with a multidisciplinary team and local resources such as law enforcement, emergency medical services, hospitals, and other community agencies.

Must be knowledgeable of mental health and substance use disorder diagnoses, symptoms, and treatments.

Must be knowledgeable of medications used to treat mental illness.

Must receive training in the use of Narcan.

Must be knowledgeable of the various services provided by multiple community agencies and methods for making referrals to those agencies.

Must be able to comprehend and maintain ADMH, Alabama Medicaid, and program standards.

Must possess excellent professional verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to interact with clients and their families in a respectful and sensitive manner.

Must be able to work within the Organization to effectively serve the needs of the clients.

Must be able to work with other program staff in a cooperative, supportive manner.

Must be knowledgeable in cultural diversity.

Must possess competent computer skills.

Essential Functions/

Job Responsibilities:

Ensure that all assigned duties are implemented according to IRBH and ADMH policies and procedures.

Ensure all safety, fire prevention, and health measures are followed while on duty.

Must be able to travel with team members to various locations in the community to provide crisis intervention services, including clients home and various locations throughout the community.

Work collaboratively with team members, staff of the crisis center, and other collaborative partners from both IRBH and other community agencies.

Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships, observing and maintaining professional boundaries.

Assist clients through crisis situations and arrange for the provision of additional assistance from other professionals/personal care givers as indicated by the needs of the client and the situation.

Provide immediate crisis intervention services to clients at their present location.

Provide assessment and referral to necessary and appropriate referral sources.

Provide documentation to the client's chart as indicated within 2 business days of providing services.

Transport clients in a company vehicle when indicated, safe and appropriate, and approved by the supervisor, ensuring that company vehicle is operated in a safe manner and that appropriate staff are notified if there is an accident or if the vehicle is in need of service.

Attend staffing and team meetings as assigned.

Ensure safety of clients, preserving basic human and legal rights.

Complete training and demonstrate competency in crisis intervention techniques, cultural diversity, and trauma-informed care.

Demonstrate appropriate and ethical behavior at all times.

Demonstrate a positive attitude toward work and the completion of work assignments.

Address any client concerns to the Supervisor or Program Manager/Program Director.

Maintain communication and awareness of current Organization events by reading memos, emails, bulletin boards, and communication logs and respond in a timely manner.

Support Organizational Code of Conduct, Standards Compliance, HIPAA and Security Programs by ensuring job tasks are performed in a legal and ethical manner, assessing the work area for non-compliance and notifying the supervisor, manager, Executive Director or designee as appropriate, and maintaining training requirements and understanding that training is a required condition of employment.

Maintain the confidential nature of all client and Organization related activities by not divulging information outside the facility, discussing information within the facility on a need-to-know basis, acknowledging policy at the point of hire by signing a confidentiality statement, and by referring media and general inquiries to the Executive Director.
