Job Purpose & Position Overview

The Community Recovery Counselor/Sober Living & Unsheltered Relatives Manager provides clinical substance use counseling while directing the daily operations of the Sober Living and Unsheltered Relatives programs. The position integrates evidence-based treatment, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, housing stabilization, recovery support, and Indigenous healing practices to support long-term wellness.

Specific

Job Duties /Responsibilities:
  • Must be familiar with the Recovery program organization, philosophy, function, responsibilities and policies.
  • May carry an active client caseload and applies therapeutic strategies that will motivate and redirect the behavior of chemically dependent individuals. This includes intake and assessment; treatment planning; treatment; progress reviews discharge; and follow-up.
  • May provide therapeutic activities (individual, group, family and marital therapy) independently addressing complex issues regarding patient care and resolving conflict/problems.
  • Provide crisis intervention, relapse prevention, and recovery planning.
  • Supervise daily operations of the Sober Living and Unsheltered Relatives programs.
  • Supervise assigned staff, peer recovery coaches, and technicians.
  • Coordinate resident admissions, discharges, wellness checks, and recovery plans.
  • Oversee house operations, safety, sobriety monitoring, and quality improvement.
  • Coordinate outreach, housing stabilization, and referrals for unsheltered relatives.
  • Collaborate with Tribal Court, Human Services, Twelve Clans Unity Hospital, Housing, and community partners.
  • Integrate Indigenous cultural practices, Elders, ceremonies, and traditional healing into recovery services.
  • Prepare monthly reports, performance measures, and grant documentation.
  • May documents all aspects of client care including observations, treatments provided and client responses to treatment and other treatment recommendations.
  • May develop comprehensive aftercare plans with specific recommendations that will facilitate the on-going process of recovery and address the comprehensive needs of the clients.
  • Monitor record keeping procedures to ensure full compliance with Federal rules and regulations governing client confidentiality. (42

  • Complete timely and efficient documentation of client care that is in full compliance with Nebraska State Standards of Care.
  • Develops working relationships with inpatient treatment facilities and detox centers and be knowledgeable of their application and intake procedures.
  • May accurately completes Recovery clinical records recording system and State of Nebraska forms on each client assigned.
  • Administer computer generated assessment tools, i.e. ASI, SASSI, and PEI, conducting chemical involvement problem severity and psychosocial evaluations for individuals referred to the program.
  • Maybe include facility oversight, such as coordinating maintenance, safety, and improvement projects.
  • Also might need to respond to after-hours emergencies when needed.
Qualifications/

Skills:
  • Preference will be for a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor or a Certified Provisional Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor and working towards becoming a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor. This position can have no experience, but is willing to sign up for classes and be successfully enrolled to obtain a Provisional Drug and Alcohol License.
  • Must have supervisor experience.
  • A pre-employment drug test will be required.
  • Professional knowledge of established counseling concepts, principles, practices, methods and techniques necessary to administer a bio-psychosocial and spiritual treatment approach.
