Parent Consultant – Statewide Early Childhood Family Outreach & Connection

LOCATION:

Utah Parent Center – Murray Office (See address for UPC below)
Provides Services Statewide JOB STATUS: 20 hours per week/40 hours per 2 week pay period

PAY RATE: $19.70/hour – includes benefit allotment Open Until Filled with a Qualified Candidate

As an employee of the Utah Parent Center (UPC or Center), the individual will support the Statewide Early Childhood Family Outreach & Connection Initiative, focused on proactively reaching and connecting families of children ages 0-5 with early childhood services, resources, peer support, and the broader services of the Utah Parent Center. Conducts proactive outreach to families of young children, particularly those experiencing developmental concerns, a new diagnosis, or barriers to accessing services.

Develops and maintains relationships with healthcare providers, early childhood programs, public health agencies, schools, community organizations, etc. Represents the Utah Parent Center at community events, health fairs, meetings, presentations, trainings, and other outreach activities across Utah. Provides families with peer support, navigation, information, referrals, and warm handoffs to developmental screenings, Early Intervention, medical and dental care, community resources, and other UPC programs.

Develops and shares outreach information and materials across print and digital platforms, including social media, websites, and listservs. Maintains accurate documentation and participates in program evaluation, including tracking all outreach and project metrics (activities, outcomes and feedback). Participates in UPC meetings, trainings, and professional development and conducts all activities professionally, respectfully, and in accordance with UPC confidentiality guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Responsible directly to the UPC Associate Director and/or Project Coordinators, in collaboration with UFV and staff. Works cooperatively with all UPC staff members, volunteers, and Board members. Works collaboratively with parents and professionals from various agencies and in the community.

• Must be the parent of a child with a disability or special health care needs – as a parent-to-parent model of service delivery will be utilized.
• Is comfortable initiating conversations, developing new community relationships, and representing the Utah Parent Center in a variety of community settings.
• Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Has strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with families, professionals, healthcare providers, and community partners.
• Must have computer and Google Suite experience, ability to access and use online resources and databases.
• Must accommodate flexible scheduling (early mornings, evenings and weekends sometimes required).
• Must be willing and available to travel throughout Utah as needed; use of a reliable personal vehicle is required.
• Provide proof of automobile insurance & pass a background check.
• Has good organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Is self-motivated and able to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a statewide team.
• Has experience in effective public speaking and presentation skills.
• Has knowledge of services and programs available for parents of children with special health care needs and the health care system of care.
• Has a high school diploma (minimum) plus experience with parent-to-parent support, family leadership, community outreach and early childhood services.
• Spanish speaking is helpful, but not required.
