The Mobile Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) provides recovery-oriented support services to individuals or a group, to assist in the creation of skills to promote the value of self-help, peer support, engagement, accountability, and personal empowerment to foster long-term, sustainable recovery. The PRSS meets the individual/group where they are and provides services in the community, at the place of employment, and/or r Recovery support staff provide hope, encouragement, and recovery support services to a diverse population of program participants who have a range of behavioral health conditions and are at various stages of recovery.

It is imperative that a Peer Recovery Support Specialist be active in their own recovery.

You will get to:

Collaborate with SUS team members to provide a lived experience perspective
, participate in team meetings, document client interactions, and coordinate schedules with team providers.
Meet with individuals and facilitate groups related to recovery, wellness, and relapse prevention strategies.
Coordinate scheduling with Mobile Unit Scheduler(s) and accompany mobile units to provide outreach, engagement, and client services.
Contact all SUS referrals within one business day to introduce oneself and initiate engagement with program services.
Coordinate scheduling of individuals with SUS clinical staff for assessment and program participation.
Teach and model skills to promote health, wellness, and recovery, as a role model with lived experience offering practical, real-world recommendations, as an advocate, mentor, or facilitator
Coordinate and conduct self-help groups and peer support activities.
Help individuals navigate the various behavioral health care systems, including SUS inpatient, detox, step down, and outpatient recovery, primary health, mental health, and others as appropriate.
Inform individuals in recovery of community resources and assist in access.

You'll definitely need:

Required:

Identify oneself as a person living with addiction and active in their own recovery.
High School Diploma or GED
Maintain a valid Texas state Driver's License and auto insurance.
Completion of Certification of Peer Recovery Support Specialist or Mental Health Peer Specialist before hire.
To complete and maintain both CPR certification and Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior training within the first 3 months of employment.
