The Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a 285-bed long-term care facility located in beautiful Wilmore, Kentucky that is committed to serving Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity and providing compassionate care.
We are currently seeking a self-motivated, energetic individual for the position of Chaplain. The ideal candidate will work within a team-centered environment to meet our commitment to serving Kentucky's Veterans.
- Plans, coordinates, and conducts worship services.
- Plans for and attend on a weekly basis, care plan meetings for the residents as required. Conducts funerals and bereavement counseling at the request of the resident’s immediate family.
- Conducts religious education classes. Makes regular pastoral ward rounds.
- Addresses civic and religious organizations as required, or as invited.
- Coordinates volunteer services of community religious groups in the institution.
- Coordinates the work of resident religious groups.
- Provides clinical pastoral education for community clergy and seminarians.
- Compiles, maintains, and submits records and reports of pastoral activities as required.

Minimum RequirementsEDUCATION: Graduate of a theological or divinity school with a master's or doctorate degree in divinity, theology or a related field.

A bachelor's degree plus one year of experience as an ordained minister will substitute for the required education.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must have certificate of ordination or denominational/ecclesiastical approval. The employee must provide the employing agency's appointing authority documentation of successful completion of a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program within six (6) months of employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification.

Work typically involves planning and conducting worship services in an institutional health care setting.
Probationary PeriodThis job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
