School-Based Support Specialist Supporting Chillicothe School District
Location:
Chillicothe, MO.
Employment Type:
Full-Time
Schedule:
Monday – Friday (School-Based Hours)
- Deliver individualized behavioral health interventions aligned with treatment goals in a school-based setting
- Support students in building coping skills, improving social-emotional functioning, and developing daily life skills
- Partner with schools, families, and community providers to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
- Manage a caseload while maintaining timely, accurate, and compliant documentation
- Provide crisis intervention, follow-up support, and outreach when needed
- Conduct home visits to strengthen engagement with youth and families
- Assist with quality assurance efforts, data tracking, and program compliance
- Participate in supervision, ongoing training, and professional development opportunities
- Adapt to evolving student needs while supporting program goals through collaboration and flexibility

- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Understanding of case management, rehabilitation, and treatment planning in behavioral health - Knowledge of challenges impacting youth with mental health and/or substance use needs
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, schools, and community partners
- Strong communication skills, including documentation and de-escalation techniques
- Ability to manage time effectively and coordinate services across multiple systems
- Comfort using electronic health records and standard office technology
- Strong initiative with a commitment to high-quality, person-centered care
- Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in crisis situations
Qualified candidates must meet one of the following:
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, or a related field; OR Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field plus 2 years of relevant behavioral health experience; OR Any 4-year combination of higher education and 2 years of qualifying experience; OR Associate’s degree in Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support; OR 4 years of full-time qualifying experience
