Salary Range: $20.00 - $25.00 Hourly

Assists in providing self-care training and implementation of therapeutic plans to residents of supportive living services. Helps adults become more independent in their daily lives by performing the following duties.

• Demonstrates activities such as bathing and dressing to train participants in daily self-care practices.
• Converse with participants to reinforce positive behaviors and promote social interaction.
• Assist participants in cooking meals and developing cooking skills to help participants reach greater independence.
• Assist participants in taking pride in their homes by helping them maintain a clean environment and develop skills to do household chores independently.
• Accompany participants on shopping trips and instruct and counsel participants in the purchase of personal items; help participants budget their funds and learn to be more financially independent.
• Administer therapeutic activities, such as physical exercises, occupational arts and crafts, and recreational games, to participants.
• Use approved therapeutic holds to prevent injury to disruptive participants, themselves and others.
• Observe and document participant's behaviors, such as verbal aggression, physical aggression, AWOLs, and inappropriate social behaviors to facilitate assessment and development of treatment goals.
• Provide transportation to and from routine health care and physician appointments.
• Help with the self‑administration of medications as prescribed by Physician and/or Primary Care.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 6 months behavioral experience preferred.
• NCPI certification preferred.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Reliable transportation; auto insurance required.
• Ability to read and write full sentences; must record details of every shift on the daily tracking log.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions and deal with problems interfering a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers; ability to print and speak simple sentences.

• Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste or smell.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
