The Billing and Insurance Coordinator is responsible for managing patient insurance information, verifying coverage and benefits, and entering accurate data into practice management systems. This role prepares and submits insurance claims, follows up on pending or denied claims, reconciles payments and adjustments, and answers billing and insurance questions from patients and caregivers. The coordinator also provides clear explanations of statements and balances, assists with payment arrangements, and works closely with clinical and front office teams to ensure timely claim processing and accurate documentation.
Requirements & Qualifications
• Strong knowledge of insurance and health insurance processes, including benefit verification and coverage coordination.
• Experience handling insurance claims, including submission, tracking, and resolution of denied or delayed claims.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in billing, data entry, and record keeping.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Familiarity with dental or medical billing software and standard office applications.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
• Prior experience in a dental or healthcare office billing/insurance role preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in medical/dental billing is a plus.
• Medical billing experience: 2 years preferred.
• Insurance verification experience: 2 years preferred.
