Chief Operating Officer / Practice Builder
Systems, workflows, staff training, and multi-site operations — not a clinical manager title
Hattiesburg, D’Iberville / Biloxi, Meridian | Full-time, on-site, travel between offices
Read this firstThis is an operator seat. We are not hiring a nurse manager, a “people person,” or someone whose value is chatting with patients in the lobby. The last hire at that profile failed. The next hire will be judged on whether staff can run the same process without the owner, whether the EMR and RCM actually work, and whether training sticks.
If your background is floor nursing, charge nurse, or clinical supervisor and you have not built computer workflows yourself, do not apply.
Compensation — South MississippiWe are paying above the local administrator market on purpose to attract a builder with an IT / systems background.
- Base salary: $160,000 – $185,000
- Target total cash: $175,000 – $200,000 (base + performance bonus)
- Bonus earned on: days in A/R, clean-claim / denial rate, collections vs charges, written SOPs in use at all three sites, and documented staff competency — not friendliness and not raw visit volume
- Benefits: health, dental, vision; 401(k) with match; PTO-120 hours and 5 sick days; travel allowance for travel between offices; professional development allowance; practice-issued laptop and mobile phone
- Relocation considered if the candidate will live within a workable drive of the three sites
This pay is for a person who can design the internal operating system of the practice. It is not available to a recycled clinic manager.
What you will build- The practice operating system: one written workflow for intake, insurance verification, authorization, scheduling, procedure day, coding, claim, denial, and collection — identical at all three offices
- The computer layer: EMR/RCM (CureMD or successor), Google Workspace, phones, scanners, e-fax, ultrasound/device workflows, portal, and any automation. You configure it. You train staff on it. You own the tickets
- A training program: checklists, competency sign-off, and retraining when someone drifts. “I told them” is not training
- A weekly scorecard the owner can read in ten minutes: volume, procedures, collections, A/R aging, denials, no‑shows, open tickets
- Multi‑site discipline: inventory, equipment, coverage, policies, and support for facility expansion
- Vendors and IT: you speak to them, you do not escalat every login to the physician
- IT or systems experience that is real: EMR administration, practice-management software, workflow automation, reporting, or healthcare IT — not “I’m comfortable with computers”
- You have personally built templates, work queues, charge tickets, and staff training inside an EMR/RCM. Be ready to screen-share and show how
- 5+ years running operations in an outpatient specialty setting (vein/vascular, derm, plastics, ortho, pain, urology, GI, OBL, or similar). Multi-site required or strongly preferred
- Proven staff trainer: you have written SOPs and can point to people who still follow them after you left the room
- Direct communicator. Travels Hattiesburg, the Coast, and Meridian without being asked twice
- Nice to have: MHA, MBA, or equivalent only if paired with hands‑on systems work. A degree without a build record does not qualify.
- Your last role was nurse manager, charge nurse, or clinical supervisor and operations meant “keeping the floor calm”
- You describe your strength as patient rapport, bedside manner, or being the face of the office
- You need the physician or a vendor to fix EMR, claims, or report problems
- You have never written a workflow or trained a team to a documented standard
- You want a CEO title and strategy meetings more than you want…
