Job Description Summary
The NCI-Designated Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) and the Department of Public Health Sciences (DPHS), based within the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Associate Professor level to help lead a new Implementation Science Initiative within the HCC Cancer Prevention and Control Program. This new initiative reflects HCC and DPHS’s commitment to accelerating the translation of scientific discoveries into real-world improvements in cancer prevention, screening, treatment, and survivorship outcomes.
By providing centralized implementation science expertise, infrastructure, training, and strategic partnerships, the initiative will help bridge the gap between evidence-based cancer research and its adoption in clinical and community settings across South Carolina and beyond. This new position offers opportunities to contribute leadership, innovative research, and mentorship to our growing initiative, and to build collaborations with clinicians, researchers, community partners, and health systems.

MUSC is seeking an accomplished investigator with an established track record in implementation science-focused research to serve as Associate Director of our newly launched Implementation Science Initiative and support HCC’s strong commitment to strengthening the impact of cancer research by supporting the effective implementation and sustainment of evidence-based interventions and guidelines. The successful candidate will apply implementation science methods and frameworks to optimize cancer prevention and control innovations and practices.
Ideal candidates will have an established record of external funding, or demonstrate strong promise to obtaining funding, preferably from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), including the National Cancer Institute (NCI), or other federal agencies. Applicants should exhibit a strong commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary research and have a track record of mentoring early-stage investigators and contributing to academic leadership.
