LCSW Clinical Supervisor

The Virginia Telemental Health Initiative (VTMHI), a first-of-its-kind statewide virtual free mental health clinic, seeks supportive and caring clinical supervisors for pre-licensed mental health providers working to achieve licensure in Virginia. This contract role provides leadership, coaching, and support of provider development and growth, with a focus on clinical quality and delivery of evidence-based care. Clinical supervisors contracted with VTMHI help pre-licensed mental health providers volunteer to care for patients referred by free and charitable clinics.

This role requires a heart for serving a diverse population of patients from across Virginia who may otherwise not have access to mental health care. Contracted clinical supervisors support a minimum of three pre-licensed mental health providers.

• Provide ongoing individual and/or group supervision to three or more pre-licensed mental health providers (pre-LMHPs) in compliance with the requirements of the respective licensing board
• Provide support for supervises and their patients as needed in navigating safety concerns
• Evaluate assessments, treatment plans, and therapeutic interventions of pre-LMHPs and provide consultation/guidance where needed
• Monitor treatment provided to determine efficacy, make recommendations for change as appropriate
• Assist pre-LMHPs in honing and enhancing their skills to support the provision of high-quality mental health care
• Maintain commitment to all applicable professional and ethical standards and support pre-LMHP adherence to these requirements, identify issues that are inconsistent with these standards and alert program leadership
• Collaborate with other VTMHI clinical supervisors and director about cases as needed
• Provide leadership for case consultation and education sessions as needed
• Monitor pre-LMHP clinical documentation to ensure correctness and co-sign documents as required by licensure requirements
• Maintain knowledge and share clinical expertise consistent with current evidence-based practice
• Comply with organizational guidelines, policies and procedures and reinforce those with pre-LMHPs
• Comply with applicable professional licensing requirements and ethical standards including maintaining required supervision CE hours
• Comply with necessary requirements for supervisors put forth by the licensing boards
• As available, assist in providing education to pre-LMHPs with webinars, didactic sessions, or written materials

• Experience providing virtual clinical supervision and telemental health services to adult patients
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, bilingual proficiency, preferred
• Strong clinical knowledge and problem-solving/decision-making skills
• Ability to receive and provide feedback and constructive criticism well, ability to resolve conflicts
• Willingness to maintain open communication with clinic staff and ask for support as needed
• Able to adapt to changes in process
• Competence in documentation management, electronic health records, and telehealth platforms
• Demonstrate knowledge and sensitivity related to anti-racism, social justice, and cultural humility. Ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals and groups.

• Education:
  
  minimum of a Master's degree in Social Work
• Licensure:
  Independent license in good standing with the Commonwealth of Virginia and the professional licensing board, Registered with the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Supervisor and also in good standing with professional licensing board for supervisory requirements.
• Experience:
  
  5 years prior experience providing clinical supervision for graduate students and/or pre-LMHPs, familiarity with free and charitable clinics or the medically underserved, working with or supervising volunteers preferred.

• $100/hour, 1099 contractor, VTMHI's work is funded through grants and therefore all positions are subject to availability of funding.
• Hours vary and may include meetings during regular business hours
• All project requirements will be carried out remotely, no office space provided
• Confidential and private workspace required, must have a strong internet connection that can support a video meeting. As a 1099 contractor, must provide own equipment capable of supporting video meetings and Microsoft 365.
