The Pharmacy Director is an administrative position. This position plans, organizes, directs and manages the Pharmacy Department including oversight of the Retail Pharmacy and Pharmacy Residency Program and clinical and regulatory oversight of Cancer Pavilion Infusion Pharmacy. Performs various duties assigned according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Pharm

• An advanced management degree (MBA, MHA or MS) or an administrative specialty residency is preferred.
• Registered Pharmacist with the Louisiana State Board of Pharmacy.
• Minimum of five years of prior management experience in a clinical pharmacy.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of inpatient hospital and retail pharmacy operations and effectively leads both areas to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality pharmacy services.
• Promotes a culture of medication safety and continuous quality improvement across inpatient and retail pharmacy services; identifies risks and implements strategies to improve medication-use processes and patient outcomes.
• Maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with applicable federal and state pharmacy laws, regulations, accreditation standards, controlled substance requirements, and organizational policies across hospital and retail pharmacy operations.
• Demonstrates knowledge of current clinical pharmacy practices and collaborates with physicians, nursing, and other healthcare professionals to support safe, effective, and evidence-based medication therapy.
• Provides leadership for retail pharmacy operations, including prescription dispensing, customer service, medication access, workflow, inventory management, and compliance with applicable retail pharmacy requirements.
• Provides leadership for medication procurement, formulary management, medication storage, distribution, utilization, and inventory processes across inpatient and retail pharmacy services.
• Effectively utilizes pharmacy information systems, automation, electronic health record functionality, and other technology to support safe, efficient, and integrated medication management.
• Effectively manages pharmacy budgets, staffing resources, inventory, purchasing, and other departmental resources while balancing financial stewardship, patient care, service quality, and operational needs.
• Develops appropriate staffing models and promotes recruitment, retention, competency, professional development, and engagement of pharmacy staff across inpatient and retail operations.
• Builds effective relationships with medical staff, nursing, hospital departments, retail pharmacy customers, and other stakeholders to support coordinated patient care and organizational goals.
• Uses clinical, operational, financial, quality, and customer-service data to evaluate pharmacy performance, identify opportunities, and implement measurable improvements.
• Develops and implements strategies that support the growth, integration, and sustainability of inpatient and retail pharmacy services in alignment with organizational priorities.

$149,000 - $222,000
