Postbac Position at Yale: Psychiatric Genetics

A postbac position is available in Montalvo-Ortiz lab at Yale Department of Psychiatry, Division of Human Genetics. The primary research focus is the study of genomks and epigenomics of psychiatric disorders.

The candidate will be working with Dr. Janitza Montalvo-Ortiz in the All of Us Research Program and will acquire training in recruitment-related activities and community outreach for the research program. In the Montalvo-Ortiz lab, the candidate will also learn to employ genome wide approaches to elucidate the genetic and epigenetic factors associated with psychiatric disorders including substance abuse,depression,and trauma (child abuse, combat trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder).

Multi-omics datasets (genomics, methylomics, transcriptomics, proteomics) are investigated to elucidate the underlying mechanisms and identify predictors or biomarkers for these disorders. Single-cell transcriptomic and epigenomic data will be also analyzed in human postmortem tissue. Work is funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Veteran's Affairs.

The Candidate:
A successful candidate will be enthusiastic and with strong interest in human genetics research. Expertise in one of the following is preferred,but not required: research recruitment, data entry, phlebotomy, bioinformatics, statistics, genetic epidemiology, psychiatric genetics,and neuroscience. Postbac applicants must have a BA/BS degree.
