Opportunity:

Respiratory Therapist

• Provide quality patient care with intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed
• Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans with minimal supervision
• Explain purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients and provide necessary education upon discharge
• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non‑invasive, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
• Administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation to patients
• Perform chest physiotherapy using various equipment to promote secretion clearance
• Perform patient suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods
• Perform oximetry and capnography monitoring according to policy
• Conduct routine review of patient chest X‑rays to determine need for further evaluation
• Perform 12‑Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition
• Perform pulmonary function studies including NIF and VC according to policy
• Assist with respiratory care procedures including bronchoscopy, perc trachs, and chest tube placement
• Perform adequate drainage of chest via PleurX catheter or similar device where applicable
• Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes in both emergent and non‑emergent situations
• Perform arterial puncture and determine efficiency of ventilation including monitoring, recording, and reporting of test results
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes via free hand technique and/or video laryngoscope system
• Set up and self‑test all ventilatory equipment and operate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation on various equipment types
• Assist in facilitating preventative maintenance and repair of equipment as needed
• Record all pertinent treatment information and patient responses in respiratory care records and patient chart
• Communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding the efficiency of therapy administered
• Report necessary information during walking rounds for shift‑to‑shift handoff communication
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging including data entry, verification, and correction of errors
