Primary Purpose of Department

The Student Health Center (Student Health) is a vital component with the Division of Student Affairs and the umbrella organization of the Health and Wellbeing unit ( HWB ). Student Health is responsible for providing comprehensive and high-quality healthcare, assisting students with the development of life skills to manage their own health needs and intentionally enhancing the campus commitment to holistic wellbeing.

Primary Purpose of Position

The Director is responsible for providing innovative and strategic institutional leadership for Student Health, within the Health and Wellbeing Unit and for the Division of Student Affairs. This position is responsible for:
1) a robust understanding of integrated, holistic student wellbeing,
2) a detailed understanding of Student Health operations (administrative and clinical),
3) direct supervision of the department management team and indirect guidance (as needed) of other departmental staff,
4) Ensuring compliance with all policies and regulations (federal, state and local) through regularly updated and maintained policies, and
5) Understanding the balance between auxiliary revenue generation & improving access by reducing help-seeking barriers. The director should possess the demonstrated ability to have fun while successfully managing change. Additionally, the Student Health Director will also demonstrate proactive and intentional relationship development (& maintenance) including other HWB departments, campus partners and community-based health services organizations.

Summary of Position Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of the Student Health Center. Refine and communicate the SHC core values and mission, develop and implement strategic goals consistent with vision and mission. Create and maintain a culture of care in which student health needs are effectively met. Partner with other health and well-being departments within and outside of Student Affairs to provide collaborative care and create an environment that supports holistic health.

Supervise members of the management team, ensuring consistency of decision-making and sound decision-making. Oversee the student health services budget and create systems that will balance student access to services with sound fiscal management. Engage in data collection and analysis to evaluate satisfaction with services and support the impact of student health on academic and interpersonal success. Publicly represent the Student Health Center to students, faculty, staff, administrators, family members, and the general public.

Master’s degree in health administration, business administration, nursing public health or related field. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, budget management, and supervision of professional staff. Minimum five years of experience leading a moderately complex healthcare clinic or organization.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Preferred candidates will have:

• More than five years of experience leading a collegiate student health center and/or moderately complex healthcare clinic or organization.
• More than three years supervising both administrative and clinical staff
• Holds the Fellow of the American College Healthcare Executives ( FACHE ) or Fellow of the American College Health Association ( FACHA ) certification credential for healthcare management leaders.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead successful staff teams.
