Education Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or an Associate’s degree in Physical Therapist Assistant with a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field.
• Holds an active, unencumbered PT license or PTA license in North Carolina

Experience Required

• Three years of full-time post-licensure clinical experience as a physical therapist or a physical therapist assistant
• Teaching and/or hospital-based instruction experience in Physical Therapy topics in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars
• Demonstrated experience in clinical education through service as a clinical instructor, site coordinator of clinical education, student mentor, faculty member, or other relevant clinical education activities.

Education Preferred

• Master’s degree or higher in Physical Therapy or health-related field.
• Completion of the American Physical Therapy Association Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program.
• Physical Therapist:
  American Physical Therapy Association Specialist Certification
• Physical Therapist Assistant:
  American Physical Therapy Association’s PTA Advanced Proficiency Pathways Certification

Experience Preferred

• Greater than three years of full-time post-licensure clinical experience as a physical therapist or a physical therapist assistant
• Post-secondary teaching experience
• Experience working with patients with neurological conditions in acute care, skilled nursing, and/or inpatient rehabilitation
• Experience with a community college physical therapist assistant program.
• Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
• Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.

The Physical Therapist Assistant Clinical Coordinator/Instructor works in close collaboration with the Physical Therapist Assistant Program Director and the Dean of Health Sciences, to ensure a robust and relevant clinical experience for program students, including recruiting new clinical sites and fostering existing clinical relationships, to ensure the program has a sufficient number of clinical sites to meet enrollment. This position will also provide clinical and didactic instruction, customer service, data support, and documentation services in accordance with state and college regulations as well as external accreditation standards.

The full-time faculty member is afforded some administrative release time to carry out clinical coordinator duties.
