Licensed Mental Health Therapist – Outpatient Behavioral Health

Columbia Mental Health in Washington, DC seeks a Licensed Mental Health Therapist to provide high-quality, evidence-based care within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. You’ll conduct assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver individual, group, and family therapy for diverse mental health conditions. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, participate in case conferences, and maintain accurate clinical documentation. • Provide individual, group, and/or family psychotherapy using evidence-based and trauma-informed treatment modalities.
• Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and ongoing risk and safety assessments.
• Formulate diagnoses and treatment plans in alignment with DSM-5 and organizational standards.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and other team members to deliver holistic, coordinated patient care.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and ethically sound clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated, and support relapse prevention and recovery goals.
• Coordinate care and communicate with external providers, community resources, and family/support systems when appropriate and with consent.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Engage in ongoing professional development, supervision/consultation, and training to enhance clinical skills.
• Uphold all ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements related to clinical practice, privacy, and professional standards.
• Diagnostic assessment and clinical formulation

• Active, unrestricted clinical license in Washington, DC (e.g., LICSW, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist) or license-eligible within specified timeframe
• Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related mental health field from an accredited institution
• Training in evidence-based modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, EMDR, trauma-informed care) preferred
• Experience using electronic health records (EHR) in outpatient or community mental health settings preferred
• Cultural competency working with diverse, urban populations in Washington, DC
• Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred
