Competency Evaluation Coordinator- Health and Human Services

** Job Description
**** PURPOSE SUMMARY.
** Coordinate court-ordered Competency to Stand Trial (CST) forensic evaluations for detainees. Coordinate the scheduling and completion of CST examinations with state-contracted forensic examiners, monitor evaluation and report timelines, maintain accurate program data, and submit reports. The position is based on-site at the Doña Ana County Detention Center (DACDC).
** ESSENTIAL DUTIES.
** 1. Coordination and Scheduling
* Receive, review, and respond to court orders for Competency to Stand Trial (CST) evaluations for indigent detainees housed at the Doña Ana County Detention Center.
* Coordinate and schedule CST examinations between detainees and state-contracted forensic examiners in accordance with statutory, court, and program requirements.
* Monitor assigned CST evaluations to support timely examination completion and submission of required reports.
* Maintain communication regarding scheduling changes, examination status, and anticipated completion dates.
2. Data Collection, Tracking, and Reporting
* Collect, enter, and maintain accurate data related to CST referrals, court orders, scheduling timelines, examinations, and evaluation completion status.
* Track CST performance measures, including orders received, examinations completed, time from court order to scheduled examination, and cases not resulting in completed evaluations.
* Maintain tracking records and documentation to support program monitoring, compliance, and reporting requirements.
* Compile and submit required monthly reports to the Health Care Authority Behavioral Health Services Division (HCA BHSD) forensic program coordinator by established deadlines.
3. Program Communication and Coordination
* Serve as a primary point of contact among the Programs Administrator, Doña Ana County Detention Center, state-contracted forensic examiners, and HCA BHSD regarding CST scheduling, reporting timelines, and process concerns.
* Communicate scheduling issues, evaluation status, and other matters affecting the timely completion of CST evaluations to appropriate stakeholders.
* Identify, document, and communicate programmatic or systemic barriers affecting CST evaluation timeliness to appropriate stakeholders for resolution.
4. Program Compliance and Support
* Participate in required learning community meetings and other program-related meetings.
* Collaborate with HCA BHSD and other stakeholders in the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the project.
* Maintain documentation and records necessary to support compliance with applicable court orders, statutory requirements, program procedures, and reporting expectations.

** QUALIFICATIONS.

* A.  Education.
** High school diploma or equivalent.

* B.  Experience.
** Three (3) years of administrative, program coordination, legal support, or related experience.

* C.  Education/Experience substitution.
** In accordance with County Policy.

* D.  Licenses/Certifications.
** Valid driver’s license. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with County policy.

* E.  Other (e.g., post-offer medical exam, polygraph, background check, driver’s license record, etc.).
** Must pass pre-employment background check, NCIC, and driving record check. Must complete required PREA and Detention Center security training prior to interacting with detainees or accessing secured areas of the facility.
