Position Summary
The Nosanchuk Laboratory at the Covenant Health Care College of Medicine at Central Michigan University is seeking two postdoctoral fellows to work on basic medical mycology. The work focus of these positions includes:
- Understanding the role of fungal extracellular vesicles;
- Deciphering the biology of fungal melanin;
- Exploring the molecular basis of fungal virulence including through genetic manipulation and next-generation sequencing approaches;
- Testing of novel antifungal compounds on fungal critical threat pathogens;
The positions have an initial 36-month appointment, with the potential for an additional 24-month extension depending on funding and satisfactory performance.
Required Qualifications
- PhD, MD, PharmD or DVM with clear basic and/or translational science experience in medical mycology, microbiology, molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, or a related field.
- Peer-reviewed publications.
- Motivation to lead independent research projects.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on extracellular vesicle biology, animal pathogenesis models (Galleria and mice), genetic techniques, and/or microscopy.
- Demonstrated evidence of independence.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate and mentor individuals at diverse stages of their careers including undergraduate and graduate students.
