Summary:The Limited Scope Radiologic Technologist (LSRT) is an integral member of the urgent care clinical team, responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic examinations within the scope permitted by applicable state regulations and organizational policies. In addition to radiologic responsibilities, the LSRT supports the clinical team with patient care and Medical Assistant functions to help maintain efficient patient flow and deliver a high-quality patient experience.

The LSRT works collaboratively with providers, clinical team members, and front desk staff in a fast-paced urgent care environment. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, a commitment to radiation safety, and the ability to provide compassionate and professional care to patients of all ages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations within the individual's authorized limited scope and in accordance with applicable regulations, organizational policies, and provider orders.
  • Accurately position patients and select appropriate imaging techniques to obtain diagnostic-quality images while minimizing unnecessary radiation exposure.
  • Follow established radiation safety principles, including ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) practices.
  • Verify patient identity, examination orders, and relevant clinical information prior to performing radiographic procedures.
  • Assess patients for appropriate safety considerations and obtain required information prior to imaging.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of radiographic procedures in the electronic medical record and imaging systems.
  • Ensure images are properly labeled, documented, and transmitted for interpretation.
  • Maintain X-ray equipment and imaging areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Perform required quality-control activities and promptly report equipment concerns or malfunctions.

    Maintain required radiation safety documentation and comply with applicable regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures and obtain vital signs and medical histories as appropriate.
  • Perform clinical support and Medical Assistant duties within training and scope, including specimen collection, point-of-care testing, medication administration when authorized, EKGs, wound-care assistance, and other clinical procedures.
  • Assist providers during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Support efficient patient flow by triaging and rooming patients, preparing examination rooms, stocking supplies, and turning over rooms between patients.
  • Provide patients with clear explanations of procedures and maintain patient privacy, dignity, and comfort.
  • Follow infection-prevention, OSHA, HIPAA, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Monitor clinical and radiology supplies and notify appropriate team members when supplies or equipment are needed.
  • Participate in required training, competencies, meetings, and continuing education.
  • Maintain all licenses, certifications, and credentials required for the position.
  • Work collaboratively with providers and team members and assist in other areas of the center as operational needs require.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an approved Limited Scope Radiologic Technologist educational or training program, as applicable.
  • Current authorization, license, registration, or certification necessary to perform limited-scope radiography in the jurisdiction in which the employee works.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required or must be obtained within the timeframe established by the organization.
  • Previous experience in urgent care, outpatient healthcare, physician practice, emergency care, or a similar clinical environment preferred.
  • Medical Assistant or comparable clinical experience preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and digital radiography systems preferred.
