We have a vacancy for a Substance use Practitioner for our busy Drug and Alcohol Service based at HMP Wayland near Thetford. Hours of work are Monday-Thursday Friday .5 hours per week.
About the RolePhoenix Futures at HMP Wayland have an exciting opportunity for someone looking to gain experience working in psychosocial treatment for substance misuse.
As a member of the Drug and Alcohol Team at HMP Wayland you will deliver psychosocial interventions in the form of 1-1 structured work and deliver a comprehensive range of group work specifically tailored to the needs of your clients. You will have the opportunity to train in all aspects of service delivery. At HMP Wayland we have a Recovery wing which is a full-time programme of psychosocial interventions.
We have a specific programme tailored for clinical clients. You will be working closely with community drug and alcohol agencies and other agencies in the establishment. You will have the opportunity to visit other agencies both prison and community based. You will have access to free parking and access to a gym on site.
Previous experience is desirable, however not essential. Support Workers come from many different backgrounds and experiences, and you may have the skills required. We are seeking dedicated individuals, based on your values, willingness to learn new skills and the compassion to deliver the best service possible to the people that use our services.

About You- Relevant experience of workingin health and social care, ideally within the field of problematic substance use, mental health oranother comparable field
- Evidence of effective partnership working and the ability to network for the benefit of theclient and service.
- Evidence of managing a busy caseload or tasks and excellent organisational skills
- To be proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook and Wordand be familiar with database management systems
- Excellent communication skills, both written andverbal
- Understand complex issues presented by people entering custody.
- Determined, with a drive to succeed and a willingness to learn.
- Passionate and enthusiastic about making a real difference to the lives of people we support.
Other organisations may call this role Recovery Worker, Recovery Co-ordinator, Criminal Justice Worker, or Substance Misuse Recovery Worker.
