Indian Harbor Yacht Club (IHYC) is seeking an energetic, hospitality-minded Food & Beverage Supervisor to join our team and help lead the daily dining experience for our members and their guests.

Founded in 1889, IHYC is a premier private yacht club located on Captain Harbor in Greenwich, Connecticut. The Club offers a vibrant year-round social calendar, family programming, fine and informal dining, waterfront events, sailing, racing, and cruising. Our goal is simple: provide exceptional hospitality while creating an environment where members and their families feel at home.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Dining Room Manager, the Food & Beverage Supervisor will play an important role in the day-to-day operation of the Club's dining services. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys being visible on the floor, leading by example, developing staff, and creating a consistently excellent member experience.

The Food & Beverage Supervisor will oversee servers, bartenders, bussers, and food runners, ensuring that service standards, cleanliness, professionalism, and hospitality expectations are consistently met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and supervise dining room staff during daily service and Club events.
  • Schedule and coordinate staff based on reservations, anticipated business levels, and member needs.
  • Greet and assist members and guests while maintaining a highly personalized level of service.
  • Train, coach, and develop service staff while reinforcing Club standards and expectations.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate daily specials, events, policies, and service expectations.
  • Work closely with the culinary team to ensure smooth communication between the front and back of the house.
  • Address member and guest concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Ensure dining areas, service stations, equipment, and storage areas are clean, organized, and properly maintained.
  • Monitor service levels, labor, supplies, and inventory while working within established budgets.
  • Assist with floor plans, reservations, opening and closing procedures, and Manager-on-Duty responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with Club policies and all applicable regulations regarding alcoholic beverage service.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service, increase member satisfaction, and enhance the overall dining experience.
  • Participate in staff meetings, Club events, and other projects assigned by management.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is a professional, personable, and hands-on hospitality leader who takes pride in service and enjoys working in a team-oriented private club environment.

Candidates should have:

  • Previous supervisory experience in a restaurant, hotel, private club, or similar hospitality environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and member service.
  • The ability to lead, coach, and motivate a diverse service team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
  • A willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and Club events as required.
  • Knowledge of dining room operations, service standards, and alcoholic beverage regulations.
WHY INDIAN HARBOR YACHT CLUB?
