Job Skills / Requirements

The Benefits Manager oversees the administration of all employee benefits programs, ensuring alignment with TJC workforce standards, CMS requirements, and federal benefits regulations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that employees’ health, wellness, and availability support safe, high-quality patient care.

  • Manage medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, wellness, FMLA, ADA accommodations, and workers’ compensation programs.
  • Ensure ERISA, HIPAA, ACA and state‑specific benefits compliance.
  • Support compliance with employee health, safety, and immunization requirements.
  • Ensure benefit and leave documentation is maintained in a secure, retrievable format for TJC and CMS audits.
  • Coordinate with Employee Health to ensure health screenings (e.g., TB, immunizations, fit testing) are tracked and documented in personnel files.
  • Administer leave of absence programs to ensure proper documentation, communication with department leaders, and minimal impact on patient care staffing levels.
  • Track FMLA and ADA leaves to ensure compliance and readiness for regulatory review.
  • Maintain benefit eligibility rosters, documentation, and annual compliance reporting.
  • Conduct internal audits of benefit files to ensure documentation is current and compliant.
  • Maintain clear records of all benefits enrollment, eligibility, and compliance data.
  • Ensure benefit‑related records are survey‑ready and consistent with TJC and DOL regulations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Required Education – High school diploma
  • Required Minimum Knowledge,

    Skills and Abilities

    • Minimum of five (5) years of benefits administration experience, preferably in healthcare.
    • Deep understanding of regulatory compliance in employee benefits.
    • Knowledge of TJC standards and HR regulatory requirements.
  • Preferred Education, Licensure and Certifications
    • CEBS certification
    • Associates or Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field
