About the Role

Clutch is looking for a People Operations Generalist to run the programs and systems that shape day-to-day life for every Clutchie: engagement, recognition, performance and comp cycle logistics. You'll make sure the operational engine runs smoothly, from onboarding and offboarding to employee lifecycle changes and compliance, and own execution end to end on programs that need a dedicated owner, working alongside People leadership, who sets program strategy.

We move fast here, and we're still building a lot of what People Operations will look like at scale, so this is a hands-on, in-the-weeds role for someone who wants to build and improve, not just maintain. We need someone who thrives on turning a messy process into a clean, repeatable one and a program plan into a flawless, well communicated rollout, and who builds strong relationships that drive real impact and outcomes, whether that's with external vendors and providers or internal stakeholders.

About

the Team

People Operations is the operational backbone of the People function  mission is to give every Clutchie a simple, seamless experience: no friction, no guesswork, just systems and workflows that quietly work so people can focus on their jobs, not the process around them. You'll contribute to the execution of projects, programs, and other initiatives, as well as system management, as part of that mission.

You'll report to the Senior Manager, People Operations.

What You’ll Do Within 1 month, you will:
  • Meet with People leadership and cross-functional partners (IT, Legal, Finance) to understand current priorities, programs, and pain points.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our HR Ops systems and processes, and start identifying and automating the quickest wins to cut down manual work and turnaround time.
  • Review current compliance documentation and flag any gaps across the states and entities where we operate.
Within 3 months, you will:
  • Run core People Operations workflows (onboarding, offboarding, employee lifecycle changes, etc.) independently, with minimal oversight needed.
  • Serve as a responsive point of contact for employee questions and concerns, with support from People leadership on anything sensitive or high-stakes.
  • Establish clear accountability and regular check-ins with our key systems vendors (payroll, HRIS).
  • Identify and implement at least one automation or process fix to cut down manual work in HR Ops.
  • Build strong, established working relationships with internal IT, Legal, and Finance partners, with clear accountability in place.
Within 6 months, you will:
  • Take a visible role in employee engagement and recognition programming, including company-wide meetings and celebrations.
  • Take full ownership of day-to-day US benefits administration, including employee questions, open enrollment, and coordination with our carriers and brokers.
  • Own communications, training, and playbooks for the H2 performance and compensation review cycle largely independently, applying lessons from the first cycle you supported.
  • Own the employee recognition program end-to-end, shaping what Clutch celebrates and how.
  • Keep compliance documentation audit- ready across every state where we operate.
What You’ll Bring
  • 4-6+ years in an HR Operations, People Operations, or HR Generalist role, with demonstrated program management experience.
  • Proven ability to launch, and run company-wide programs (performance cycles, offsites, engagement initiatives) from concept through execution.
  • Comfortable owning vendor relationships (payroll, HRIS, LMS) and holding vendors accountable from day one.
  • Systems thinking: able to map a process end to end, spot the friction points, and redesign workflows so they're simpler for everyone who touches them.
  • Working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance requirements across multiple states or entities.
  • Sound judgment on when to handle something directly and when to route it to People leadership.
  • Confident communicator who can facilitate meetings and run programs that land well with employees at every level.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, fast-changing environment, comfortable juggling multiple priorities and shifting gears quickly without…
