HR Generalist
Location:
Paducah
Mesabi Metallics is seeking a proactive and hands-on HR Generalist to support the establishment and growth of our organization in Iowa.
This is a broad-based HR role with particular focus on organization establishment, recruitment, engineering college/university relations, onboarding and induction, payroll coordination, and day-to-day HR operations.
The position offers an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys working in a growing organization and wants to contribute to building HR processes and talent pipelines from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities- Support organization establishment and workforce ramp-up, including manpower tracking, employee records, HR processes, and systems.
- Coordinate end-to-end recruitment for engineering, technical, operations, and support positions.
- Build relationships with engineering colleges, universities, technical institutes, and career centers to develop pipelines for fresh graduates, interns, and entry-level engineering talent.
- Coordinate campus engagement, career fairs, internship programs, interviews, offers, and graduate hiring initiatives.
- Manage pre-boarding, joining formalities, new-hire orientation, and induction.
- Coordinate employee data, attendance, benefits, and payroll inputs to support accurate and timely payroll administration.
- Manage day-to-day HR operations, including HRIS updates, employee documentation, personnel files, leave and attendance records, HR letters, and employee queries.
- Support implementation of HR policies, employee engagement initiatives, and internal HR communication.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with applicable employment requirements and company policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Approximately 3–5 years of relevant HR experience, preferably with broad exposure to HR operations and recruitment.
- Experience in recruitment, university/campus hiring, onboarding, payroll coordination, and HR operations would be preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing, mining, engineering, construction, or another industrial environment would be an advantage.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, coordination, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing, and evolving organization.
- High degree of initiative, ownership, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
