Summary

Belongó is seeking an experienced and strategic Human Resources Generalist to lead and strengthen our people operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on HR leader who enjoys balancing strategy with day-to-day execution in a collaborative nonprofit environment and the opportunity to help build a rapidly growing organization.

Reporting to the Director of Operations and Administration, the Human Resources Manager will help oversee the full employee lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations, compliance, payroll, benefits administration, and performance management. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted resource for staff and leadership, helping foster an engaging, inclusive, and compliant workplace while supporting organizational growth. The Human Resources Manager will play a critical role in shaping company culture, developing talent management initiatives, and ensuring operational excellence across all HR functions.

What

You Will Do

Develop and administer company-wide human resources policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with stated corporate objectives and federal and state legal requirements compliance.

  • Lead the development, implementation, and administration of HR policies, procedures, and best practices that support organizational goals and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Serve as the primary HR resource for employees, fostering positive employee relations and helping cultivate an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative workplace.
  • Manage the organization's relationship with its Professional Employer Organization (PEO) and oversee all HR-related functions within the partnership.
  • Coordinate recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and employee retention initiatives to attract and retain exceptional talent.
  • Manage employee onboarding, performance review processes, and exit interviews, providing meaningful insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Administer employee benefits, including annual renewals, employee communications, and enrollment support.
  • Process payroll and oversee timekeeping, paid time off, and HRIS records using Prism HRIS.
  • Ensure compliance with New York State labor laws, OSHA regulations, workers' compensation requirements, and other applicable employment regulations.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations matters, providing guidance, resolving issues, and escalating concerns when appropriate.
  • Prepare HR reports, analyze workforce data, and recommend improvements to policies, procedures, and employee programs.
  • Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, orientations, training, and staff events that strengthen organizational culture.
  • Support office operations and provide administrative assistance to the Director of Operations and Administration as needed.
  • Contribute to additional projects and organizational initiatives that support Belongó's mission and continued growth.
