** About the Department
** Equal Opportunity Programs (EOP), part of the Office of the Provost, has University-wide responsibility that includes coordinating compliance and programs in the areas of Equal Opportunity (EO), , unlawful discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct response and prevention, accessibility and compliance with ADA/504, Veterans and Military-Affiliated programs, and federal, state and local non-discrimination laws including Title VI and Title IX. To achieve its goals the EOP works closely with the Office of Legal Counsel, Human Resources, and Campus and Student Life in collaboration with academic and administrative leaders throughout the University.
** Job Summary
** The Investigator, Resolution Services/ Deputy Title VI and IX Coordinator, is a full-time administrative staff position reporting to the Director of Resolution Services/Deputy Title VI and IX Coordinator and indirectly to the Associate Provost for Equal Opportunity Programs/Title VI and IX Coordinator. The Investigator is responsible for investigating complaints under University policies made against faculty, other academic appointees, postdoctoral researchers, and third parties.

The Investigator partners with a number of campus partners, including Employee and Labor Relations, Campus and Student Life, Lab School, and the University of Chicago Medical Center. The Investigator is a subject-matter expert in investigations and conflict resolution in complex organizational settings, specifically related to federal, state and local non-discrimination laws. The Investigator supports the Director, Resolution Services in the implementation of the University-wide resolution framework under the University’s non-discrimination and youth protection policies, and day-to-day operations associated with the University and Lab School compliance efforts related to non-discrimination and UChicago CARES core values.
** Responsibilities
* ** Conduct and document investigations independently or in partnership, as primary investigator, of complaints made against faculty, other academic appointees, and postdoctoral researchers alleging discrimination, harassment, or sexual misconduct, consensual relationships violations, or workplace violence, and as needed, those against staff (in partnership with Employee and Labor Relations).
* In partnership with the Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Lab School, or Lab Human Resources, provide response to reports and investigate complaints under the related Lab School policies and University’s non-discrimination and harassment policies in compliance with federal, state, and local non-discrimination laws (
* e.g.*, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX) or Illinois State Board of Education regulations for bullying.
* Prepare position statements in response to agency complaints, including but not limited to the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission and the Illinois Department for Human Rights.
* Serve as a lead on drafting notification letters, party and witness interviews, drafting reports and outcome letters, communicating with leadership and campus partners, consulting with campus partners on complex matters, and coordinating with the University-wide Disciplinary Committee.
