Payroll and Benefits Generalist
The Payroll and Benefits Generalist position is an integral part of the Diocesan Human Resources Office team. This position will be responsible for processing designated payrolls, coordinating insurance and benefit administration, maintaining time and attendance recordkeeping, conducting new hire orientations along with providing general administrative support in other human resource areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Process payroll for employees in the diocesan administrative offices and clergy. This position will also serve as primary payroll backup for additional diocesan organizations.
- Coordinates health, dental and vision insurance enrollments, terminations, claims and serves as the primary point of contact for plan participant questions and issues. The position will work closely with our contracted diocesan insurance consultants and will be responsible for accurately administering the insurance/benefit information management system.
- Generate required payroll and benefit reports.
- Assist other team members as needed in the administration of other diocesan benefits such as life insurance, short and long term disability, and retirement plans.
- Administers the time and attendance recordkeeping system for employees and Diocesan departments.
- Conducts new employee orientations.
- Provides general administrative support for the Diocesan Human Resources Office team as needed.
Position Qualifications and Requirements:
- Demonstrated understanding and appreciation for the Catholic Church’s mission, vision and values.
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- Maintain and promote a positive customer service approach to internal and external stakeholders.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in payroll, insurance/benefit administration and human resources. Additional fiscal/basic accounting experience a plus.
- Needs be able to respect and maintain confidentiality.
- Must be a team player who possesses strong communications skills.
- Computer proficiency is required.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail is required.
- Must be able ability to multi-task and also work independently with little supervision.
