About This Role

Housing and Dining Services seeks a self-motivated, collaborative leader with technical expertise and strong technical translation skills to manage departmental information technology functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision & Leadership
  • Lead and evaluate Help Desk operations, desktop support, system administration, and technology projects.
  • Develop student employees through technical training, leadership development, and professional workforce preparation.
  • Provide leadership for Tier 1 Res Net operations and Tier 3 support across critical databases, applications, security, and monitoring systems.
  • Represent Housing and Dining Services on campus IT committees and collaborate with central IT partners.
Infrastructure & Technical Leadership
  • Serve as the primary architect for server and network infrastructure, overseeing design, configuration, patching, optimization, security, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Manage Windows and Linux server environments, VMware virtualization, Active Directory, file services, and iSCSI storage.
  • Design and support enterprise network infrastructure, including routing, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, VLANs, wireless, NAC, IP subnetting, and IP address management.
  • Troubleshoot complex network and system issues using root-cause analysis and industry-standard tools and technologies.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, security, and reliability of critical 24/7 IT services.
Project & Resource Management
  • Lead infrastructure upgrades, system implementations, wireless enhancements, and new technology deployments across residential, dining, and retail facilities.
  • Forecast capacity and technology needs to support long-term planning and budget decisions.
  • Coordinate hardware and server installations and manage project budgets and resources.
  • Collaborate with campus network teams on enterprise wireless planning, subnetting, and infrastructure maintenance.
Customer Service & Operational Support
  • Champion a customer-focused Res Net support model and ensure reliable wired and wireless services for residents.
  • Conduct site assessments to evaluate network coverage, capacity, and service quality.
  • Provide Tier 3 support for complex and mission-critical incidents and respond to production emergencies on a 24/7 basis as needed.
  • Foster strong partnerships across departmental and campus IT teams while promoting collaboration, professionalism, and a positive service environment.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and seven years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of work experience and education.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in customer support in an environment with technology orientation
  • Supervisory experience
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
Additional Role Information:
  • Availability to work evening and week-end hours as needed to support server maintenance and other operational requirements.
