This is a contract position for an experienced Senior Scrum Master to lead Agile delivery teams in a complex, highly regulated environment based in Washington, Washington. The role is expected to last 6 months or longer and will focus on servant leadership, Agile coaching, and continuous improvement within a matrixed organizational structure.
Responsibilities- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- Coach Agile teams toward higher levels of maturity, accountability, and predictability.
- Identify, track, and remove team-level impediments while escalating organizational blockers when necessary.
- Partner with Product Owners, Agile Coaches, and leadership to align priorities and delivery goals.
- Promote psychological safety, collaboration, and healthy team dynamics.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using retrospective outcomes and team feedback.
- Protect teams from external disruptions and maintain focus on sprint commitments.
- Support Agile transformation efforts and adoption of organizational Agile standards and playbooks.
- Track and improve delivery metrics including velocity, predictability, and team performance.
- Required
- 7+ years of hands-on Scrum Master experience supporting multiple Agile teams within complex matrixed organizations.
- Current Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM II or higher) certification.
- Demonstrated success building self-organizing teams and improving Agile delivery outcomes.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and change management skills.
- Experience managing resistance to Agile adoption and guiding teams through cultural transformation.
- Ability to operate independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Preferred
- Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), SAFe Scrum Master, or other advanced Agile certifications.
- Experience supporting Federal Government agencies or highly regulated industries.
- Background working in enterprise Agile transformation programs.
