Organization's Summary Statement:
The Washington DC campus for the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business has instructional and collaborative technology in 5 classrooms, 1 lab, and a conference room.

  • IT/AV Contractual 1 investigates all technical support issues reported and/or found, escalated from the Smith IT Technicians or delegated by Smith IT Management or Administrators.
  • IT/AV Contractual 1 has dispatch responsibility and distributes incoming service requests to individual team members or support groups.
  • Physical Demands:
    Ability to sit and stand at a computer for extended periods of time;
    Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull IT and audiovisual equipment, supplies, and related materials weighing up to approximately 10 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • EXAMPLES OF WORK:
    Works closely with Classroom Technology staff responsible for classroom design and deployment of technologies to program and deploy AV systems in General Purpose Classrooms;
    Reviews requirements and assists with the design of classroom AV systems;
    Performs tests and pilots of viable technologies;
    Troubleshoots existing AV programs to restore system functionality;
    Programs Crestron control processors, touch panels, routers, audio DSPs (Crestron and others) and other peripherals to support instructional technology classrooms;
    Other duties as assigned.
Preferences
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience:

    Three (3) years of audio programming experience.
  • Other:
    Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
  • Ability to support, identify, and troubleshoot general problems with PC/AV hardware and Apple devices.
  • Knowledge of Windows/Mac OS, IE, Firefox, Safari, the MS Office suite (especially PowerPoint), and file/print services such as Active Directory, Service Now, and Google (Gmail).
  • The candidate must have a general understanding of client-server applications, networks, authentication, application packaging, and imaging.
  • Must possess a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and proactively seek continuous quality improvement of services.

  • Strong knowledge of Windows OS and MS Office products
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and willingness to share information
  • Ability to use discretion and confidentiality with access to sensitive data and local administrative access to all desktop equipment and data in the environment for the purpose of support.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience:

    One (1) year of professional administrative, coordinator, or information technology experience.
  • Other:
    Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of academic policies.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in the use of Google Office and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.
  • Ability to interact with internal and external staff at all levels in a professional, courteous and efficient manner.
Salary Range

$28.75 per hour
